WEEK 1 IN SMK PERIMBUN

 On July 31, 2023, I and three of my fellow trainees reported to Perimbun National Secondary School (SMK Perimbun) at 7:30 in the morning. Our presence was warmly welcomed by the Assistant Principal, Mrs. Siti Noriza. After meeting with Mrs. Siti Noriza, we submitted the necessary documents required by the school. Subsequently, the school assigned us as teachers for the morning session.


After completing the document formalities, we met with the Head of English Department, Mrs. Aidah. She assigned a mentor for each of us to assist throughout our practicum. I was paired with Mrs. Khairiyyah as my mentor. In my opinion, Mrs. Khairiyyah is a cheerful, helpful, and understanding teacher, which makes me comfortable to seek guidance from her. During this time, we were provided with our schedules.

During the first week, we were also given tasks to relieve several classes. I found it quite challenging to locate the classrooms I was assigned to due to the school's vast size. However, I received assistance from other teachers and was provided with a plan to refer to, making it easier for me to find the classes I needed to attend.

Furthermore, within this week, my fellow trainees and I attended two after-school English community meetings at 1:30 pm. During these meetings, the English teachers explained various aspects of English, including formative assessment. In the second meeting, they discussed other topics, one of which was the English week scheduled from September 4th to September 9th. For this week, we were asked to prepare a worksheet for an explorer activity.

Lastly, during this week, I started teaching Form 3 Budi students on Thursdays for 1 period and 4 Inovatif students on Fridays for 2 periods. Both classes showed excellent cooperation and responsiveness during my teaching. Honestly, although I still feel a bit awkward, they listened to instructions and performed tasks very well.



During the first week, I have observed that it has been somewhat challenging and still quite early for me to fully adapt to the situation at this school. Consequently, I am including my SWOT analysis for this week below:

This week marks my seventh week at this school. During this week, there isn't much to share as I have been teaching and providing relief just as usual. However, on Monday (September 11th), we were tasked with organizing an awards presentation session for students involved in language week activities from the previous week. Additionally, this week featured a program held on Wednesday (September 13th) during co-curricular hours, known as the "Perimbun Has Talent" program. WEEK 9 IN SMK PERIMBUN

This week marks my ninth week at SMK Perimbun. As per usual, my instructional and learning sessions have continued in their regular fashion. However, what sets this week apart is the introduction of technology into my teaching approach. I have incorporated tools such as a projector to enhance the visual aspects of my lessons. Moreover, I've begun to integrate interactive activities within my classroom, utilizing platforms like Plickers. This innovative shift in my teaching methodology has not only made the learning experience more engaging but has also enriched the overall educational environment. Students now have the opportunity to interact with the subject matter in a more dynamic way, thanks to the utilization of multimedia resources like the projector. This visual aid not only makes complex concepts more accessible but also fosters a deeper understanding of the material. WEEK 4 IN SMK PERIMBUN

  This week marks the fourth week of my presence in this school. Within this fourth week, it can be stated that there have been minimal changes due to the fact that the majority of the students are still engaged in examinations. For the form 3 class, I have successfully administered their speaking test during this week. However, in the current week, I have only one remaining period to continue my lessons for my form 3 students. Consequently, the instructional progress I was able to achieve for my form 3 students this week was limited to a rather straightforward lesson. The subject matter revolved around vocabulary associated with the fourth unit, namely "Special Relationship." The lesson comprised a basic activity where students were required to comprehend the meanings of each vocabulary term, followed by providing suitable examples using the names of their friends.
